Growing up, I actually did want to be a photographer. For a while, I desperately wanted to be a photojournalist for National Geographic.
I got started with my dad’s old Canon film camera, and I loved it right away, both taking photos and learning how it all worked.
I stepped away from photography for a long time, but eventually found my way back to it more intentionally. Since then, I haven’t really put the camera down.
I’m not trying to turn everything into some big artistic moment. I just like photos that feel real and honest.
And honestly, the fact that other people like my work or trust me to take their photos is something I really appreciate. It still feels a little surprising in a good way.
Photography found me (again) at a time when I was craving a way back to creativity.
Like a lot of people, I had slowly drifted away from making things just for the sake of it. Life got busy, structured, and practical, and somewhere along the way, that creative part of me became quieter.
Picking up a camera after a decade of it collecting dust changed that.
It gave me a reason to slow down again. To notice light, texture, movement, to pay attention in a way I hadn’t in a long time.
What started as a quiet return to something I missed quickly became something more.
Now, it’s how I stay present. How I document what matters. How I create.
And getting to share that with other people, to capture moments that feel honest and meaningful to them, is the part I value most.
Hi, I’m Sarah Chipley.
My Approach
I’m not interested in perfectly posed images or forcing something that doesn’t feel natural.
I’m drawn to what’s real—connection, movement, stillness, emotion. The in-between moments that often end up meaning the most.
When we work together, my goal is simple:
to create a space where you can relax, be yourself, and forget the camera is even there.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Sessions with me are unhurried and easygoing.
There’s no pressure to perform or “get it right.”
I might guide you a little when needed, but mostly I’m observing—watching for the small, genuine moments as they happen.
Whether we’re outside in nature or somewhere that feels meaningful to you, I’ll meet you where you are and document what unfolds.
